One of the anthems that country music fans have turned to in order to find some hope and peace during this time has been Thomas Rhett's collaboration "Be A Light." The song featuring Reba McEntire, Keith Urban, Hillary Scott of Lady A, and Christian singer, Chris Tomlin was released during the beginning of quarantine in Match and has really become a guiding 'light' during the pandemic.

Rhett announced that all the proceeds from the song would go directly to the MusiCares COVID-19 Relief Fund, which was created by the Recording Academy to help musicians who are struggling due to the coronavirus outbreak.

That means every time the song is streamed or played on the radio, money is being donated to that wonderful cause.

The song is currently No. 4 on the country charts and Rhett is hoping to reach #1 in a few weeks! Once the song tops the charts, then he along with all the collaborators on the song will get to donate all the proceeds.

BUT before that happens, Rhett and his record label president, Scott Borchetta of Big Machine, decided to speed up the donations with an additional $100,000 to the relief fund.

In a video conference call with Rhett, Borchetta, the Recording Academy chair and interim president/CEO Harvey Mason Jr., and MusiCares executive director Laura Segura, Borchetta first announced that from behalf of Big Machine Record Group, he was donating $50,000 to MusiCares. Then Rhett chimed in that the two had a deal and he would match the donation with another $50,000!

Both the Recording Academy president and the MusiCares executive director could not believe their generosity in donating an extra $100,000 to their fund on top of the money that will be donated from the song!

Let's keep spinning and streaming the song so even MORE money could be donated to help those that make music for us!
