Due to the COVID-19 coronavirus pandemic and all the shelter in place orders, all restaurants have cut back on their hours and are only open for curbside pickup, to-go orders, or delivery. This has largely impacted the dining industry and all the servers and staff that rely on their job for their financial and emotional well being.
Even the lucky servers that have kept their job, have had their hours decreased significantly and there is currently no end in sight as to when restaurants will be fully open again, which is why filmmaker and actor Tyler Perry knew he had to help out where he could.
Perry visited one of his favorite restaurants in Atlanta and ended up leaving $21,000 in tips for all the servers and employees.
According to sources, Perry tipped 42 servers $500 each at a Houston's restaurant located on Northside Parkway.
The servers were delighted and so appreciative of Perry's kind gesture!
According to the latest data released by the Georgia Department of Public Health, more than 7,300 cases of the virus have been confirmed in the state and more than 220 deaths.
The entire state is currently under a stay at home order and all residents are required to adhere to the social distancing guidelines advised by the federal health experts.
