It has been a long-standing tradition at the Siesta Key Oyster Bar (S.K.O.B) in Florida to have patrons staple money around the restaurant: on the walls, ceilings, and awnings.
The S.K.O.B staff tells customers the tale that long ago fishermen would staple a dollar to the wall of a beloved bar so that if they didn't catch anything that day, they still had enough money for a drink. Today, there is an industrial strength stapler at the hostess stand for patrons to use.
Now there are so many dollar bills plastered around the bar that you can barely see anything else!

When the staff heard about the devastation in the Bahamas because of Hurricane Dorian they knew they wanted to help, but did not know exactly how.
The answer was right in front of them the whole time! They decided the money stapled to the wall would go to the relief efforts!
Employees equipped with pliers, screwdrivers, and patience worked for the entire month of September to pull and pry years of industrial-strength staples out. They finished Tuesday with well over 14,000 bills!
They then took all the money to the bank and after counting and excluding all the bills that were no longer able to count as legal tender, the final total was $13,961!
The bar owners will be donating the money to the Bahamas Red Cross in Nassau. The general manager said, "You pay it forward. It gives it a whole new level of respect for what you do when you have the ability to do that."
Hopefully, customers will continue to staple bills around and the S.K.O.B could donate it all again to another effort in the next few years! #GoodVibes
