Idriz Redzovic, a jiu-jitsu professor and second-degree black belt, owns a martial arts studio on Chicago's north side and stopped a would-be thief the other day.

While at work he was alerted that a teenager was seen rummaging through his car, so he and another instructor ran out to tackle the thief.

Redzovic said he used a jiu-jitsu technique to take him down by pinning his knee on the thief's chest while also controlling his wrist, so he could not reach for a weapon or hit Redzovic.

After subduing and patting the man down, Redzovic was unsure of what to do next. At first, he wanted to smack and hit the man around, but instead, he decided to have a conversation with the young man.

Redzovic found out the thief was only 17 and instead of pressing charges, he invited the man to work out at his gym and hopefully find some peace within himself. Redzovic said he believes in positivity and his goal is to be a positive influence in the kid's life and hopefully, it could help snowball his life in the right direction.

He hopes to use his story as a teaching moment for others too ad said, "Sometimes you got to be compassionate. Sometimes being nice to people, and showing them the world is nice, it might open their eyes to change. It’s not always violence." #GoodVibes
