Last week while 6-year-old Damon was on his way to school his family home unexpectedly went up in flames.
The fire completely overtook the house leaving nothing but a charred frame.
When the County Sheriff Officers arrived, Damon made a comment that he was hoping his new Batman Halloween costume was not in the house. His grandmother gave a sad look to Capt. Tim Griffin explaining that the costume was in fact gone.
Seeing little Damon so upset was difficult for Griffin and he knew he had to do something. Feeling inspired, he made a trip to Walmart to buy the same costume for the boy.
Griffin then surprised Damon with the same Batman outfit! He said he wanted the ensure the boy could enjoy an as "normal as possible" Halloween after the devastation.
After presenting the gift to Damon, he told the boy "that sheriff's deputies need all the Batmans, so that we can get out here helping fight crime!"
Damon was thrilled because Batman is his favorite superhero and he cannot wait to show off his costume while trick or treating!
Griffin explained that it was the right thing to do, but he will never forget the smile on Damon's face when he took the Halloween costume out of the bag! #GoodVibes
