“It’s so strange, isn’t it? How just like that, a complete stranger can become such a big part of your story?" Rebecca asks Jack at the kickstart of the trailer for the upcoming season of This Is Us.
Her question sets the tone for the season 4 trailer that includes regulars and new faces alike.
"It’s actually kind of terrifying, you know? How a single cross with one person you’ve never met can change everything," she adds.
In a way, it's as if she's summing up how important the Pearson clan has become to millions of Americans following the premiere four-years-ago.
But the promo for the upcoming season pushes viewers slightly out of their comfort zones as it introduces a total of 10 new faces including When They See Us‘ Asante Blackk and Marsha Stephanie Blake, House‘s Omar Epps, Psych‘s Timothy Omundson, The Sixth Sense director M. Night Shyamalan and Once Upon a Time‘s Jennifer Morrison, who will be taking on a pivotal role.
As we're left asking "who are these people," we're also intrigued by how they play into the story.
Morrison, whose military background is reminiscent of Jack, will play a "substantial" role in the season, and the most popular theory floating around is that she's Kevin's future wife.
If you recall, in the final moments of the third season of This Is Us, everyone gathered at Kevin's home to say goodbye to Rebecca, and it was revealed that he was a father.
Did Kevin and Morrison's character have a child together? Or is Kevin the step-father and is the child's father actually Revenge's Nick Weschler?
It looks like Weschler is the man in the photo with the child on Morrison's desk.
Blake and Epps are rumored to be the Randall and Beth's new neighbors while Omundson may have been tapped to play Rebecca's father.
This Is Us returns with new an extended premiere episode on Tuesday, September 24th and 9/8c.
