Ever find yourself at the water cooler at work, surrounded by your co-workers who are all having a fantastic conversation with amazing facts...but you can't participate because you know nothing about anything? Worry not! Cort is here to teach you a thing or two to make you sound smarter at work! (Warning: co-workers may think you're a know-it-all). Here are three things he taught Melissa & Austin this morning!

1. It's One Of The Oldest Cliches In Comedy--What's The Deal With Airplane Food?
Well, I read up on this pressing issue and have a scientific explanation! You lose 30% of your taste buds during flight. According to a German study, the dryness experienced at a high elevation as well as low pressure reduces the sensitivity of your taste buds by approximately 30%! In addition to that, dry cabin air affects our ability to smell making taste more difficult!

2. Cotton Candy Was Invented By A Dentist
I am someone with trust issues, so reading this--in a book--scared me. William Morrison teamed up with a candy company to create the first Cotton Candy Machine--which at the time was called Fairy Floss. Much to the joy of Dr. Morrison, it's been creating a plethora of cavities ever since.

3. Lastly, let's learn about Goosebumps--no, not the children's literature series, the body phenomenon
Did you know Goosebumps are actually caused by a muscle--called the arrector pili muscle. When you experience Goosebumps, these small muscles attached to individual body hairs contract, leading the hairs to stand on end. This physiological reaction also caused our ancestors to appear bigger than they were, helping to fend off predators. With most humans, me being the exception, now having less body hair, goosebumps no longer cause us to look intimidating.

Share these facts with your co-workers and sound smart at the water cooler!
