In the UK, dad Ray Liddell ordered an inflatable Grinch for his daughter was taken aback when he found out its real size was bigger than his house.
Liddell paid $670 for the inflatable but had no clue it would turn out to be taller than a giraffe. After getting more than he bargained for, he has become a celebrity of sorts in Hartlepool, County Durham.
Hundreds of people have been flocking to Ray's house to catch a glimpse of the gigantic Grinch.
So now, Ray is using the popularity of the figure for a good cause. He has asked families to donate some money to charity after they have a look at the green giant in the front yard. According to reports, he has already collected more than $13,000.
"There was a queue on Sunday morning. I made sure everyone was socially distanced. I reckon we must have had over 5,000 people visit. It's been a real marvel so far. I only ordered it for my daughter as she loves Grinch. I was delighted with her reaction, let alone that of strangers," said Ray.
The money collected from the public will be sent to the Alice House Hospice, a care centre that looked after Ray's died before he passed away from COVID-19.
