#FindingTheGood: Philly teenager starts organization to donate backpacks supplies to homeless youth

The effort has grown exponentially in such a short time!

Alexa Rhodes, a junior high schooler at Springside Chestnut Hill Academy in Philadelphia, wanted to help the homeless young people in her neighborhood so she brainstormed what might have the biggest impact.

Alexa dreamed big & created H.E.L.P.I.N.G. The Homeless Backpacks to raise $ and donate needed items in multi-use backpacks!

Just this past Monday, she made her second delivery of 75 backpacks (each packed with 40+ essential items) for the young residents of her local teenager homeless shelter (Covenant House’s Rights of Passage).

Even more amazing? Alexa won 1st place in the International Global Youth Entrepreneurship competition, with the top prize of $5,000 (!) going right to use in her charity!
