US*99 spotlights Black Excellence in Country Music

Performing artist and songwriter, Tiera dropped her self-titled ep in 2021, introducing country music fans to the sounds of the combined styles of Country and R&B.


Jimmie Allen
Multi-Platinum recording artist and songwriter, Jimmie Allen, became the first black solo performer to win new male artist of the year at the 2021 ACM Awards. A busy year, Jimmie waltzed through 'Dancing with the Stars', delivered consecutive debut #1 singles, found time to pen and release his debut Children's Picture Book "My Voice is a Trumpet", and earned a Grammy nomination for Best New Artist.

Mickey Guyton
Four-Time Grammy nominated artist and songwriter, Mickey Guyton, became the first black woman to host the ACM's in 2021. The Texas native is no stranger to trailblazing, becoming the first black woman nominated for a Grammy in the country music category for the song "Black Like Me" in 2020.

Darius Rucker
Making the switch to Country in 2008, Darius Rucker took Nashville by storm. His first country single, "Don't Think I Don't Think About It" made him the first black artist to reach #1 the Country charts since Charley Pride in 1983. And the South Carolina native has been bringing hits to Country radio ever since.
