It's no secret that the past year has brought some serious challenges for everyone, but especially teachers. While trying to navigate remote learning, hybrid models, and safely returning to class rooms, there was no shortage of obstacles and exhaustion. However, teachers everywhere pushed on and got creative simply because they care about the kids they teach.
Scotty's son's teachers are no different. In class they watched Scotty and his fiancé try the "One Chip Challenge". The challenge consists of eating one chip made with the Carolina Reaper pepper, which is the hottest pepper on Earth.
It can't be that hot … right?
You would be wrong. The good folks Guinness certified that at 1,569,300 Scoville Heat Units, it's the hottest. If you're looking for perspective, a jalapeno is measured between 2,500 and 8,000 SHUs.
In a constant search to shake things up and end the school year with some smiles on the kids faces, Ms. Tracy Lamont, 5th Grade teacher, challenged her teaching partner Mr. Paul Galassi to attempt the challenge in front of the kids. Mr. Galassi thought this would be no 'sweat' since he LOVES spicy foods and even makes his own hot sauce. You can see how it went below!
Below is a photo, courtesy of Mr. Galassi's wife, of some of the aftermath.
