During an interview with Audacy’s Rob + Holly at Faster Horses Festival over the weekend, Blanco shared he has plans to release his own take on the John Denver classic, “Take Me Home, Country Roads.”
“I trailer trapped out ‘Country Roads’ [by] John Denver,” he said proudly. “I sped up the BPM and we gonna get the people to dance to it. Once a hit, they say, always a hit. I just put my own spin on it.”
Brown clarified he was “blessed” with permission from Denver’s estate, who sent him the masters to be included in the new version.
Noting the song “doesn’t need his help,” to stay relevant, Blanco said he looks forward to exposing it to a new generation of music fans that can trace it back to Denver. “He don’t need my help to keep it goin’ because the song is gonna outlive us all,” Blanco said. “I grew up listening to it and it made me feel a certain way every time I heard it and I just want to be a part of that magic so many years later.”
Blanco gave fans at Faster Horses a taste of what’s to come with a live performance of his version over the weekend — check out a clip of his performance below.
