“A bunch of the songs on there are my favorite songs I’ve ever written, all of them were written after the album came out,” she told Audacy’s Bru before noting how excited she is to expand on the original project which features “Austin,” and title track, “What Happens Now?” a track she described as a “banjo banger.”
“There’s so much heart and culture behind Country music and that’s one of my favorite things about the genre, I’m just happy to be here,” she shared before sharing she hopes to continue releasing songs that resonate with fans.
“I always say I’m a songwriter first and it’s been really amazing to see how many lives and people I can move and change with my music — that’s why I make music,” she shared. “It’s for my fans, it’s for the people that love it. Someone DM’d me the other day and was like, ‘Hey, I broke up with my toxic boyfriend because I heard ‘Austin’ and I realized I deserved better than this.’ That’s what it’s all about — helping people.”
She continued, “[‘Austin’] is may first big moment in general and for it to be this big and worldwide — it’s the highest charting Country song outside of the U.S. in history,” she said. “For that to even be under my belt three months into this song doing something.... There’s just so much room for Country to grow and I’m so happy to be a part of that, it’s been the wildest thing in the whole entire world.”
There’s no doubt she’s making connections with fans across the globe as she continues to see success with “Austin” and watch her dreams come true right before her very eyes.
“The madness of it all has just been the best time of my entire life,” she shared. “I started writing songs when I was eight years old, I released my first song when I was 13 — it was my birthday present to my dad to get a song recorded. This is literally all I’ve ever wanted to do with my life is write songs and perform them for the world and it’s just wild to see my wildest dreams actually coming true in the craziest way possible.”
