Dolly Parton can do anything – or close to it.
This week the singer, songwriter, actress, theme park owner and vaccine investor announced she would add thriller novelist to her list of accomplishments.
According to Little Brown, Parton will be writing “Run, Rose, Run,” with prolific author James Patterson. The book is described as “a thriller about a young singer-songwriter on the rise and on the run, and determined to do whatever it takes to survive.”
Readers will be able to get their hands on a copy of the 400-page book next year. When they do, they will be taken to the world of Nashville Country music as they follow Rose’s story. In addition to the novel, Parton also plans to release an album based on the book.
“I cannot be more excited about the release of my very first novel,” said Parton in an August 11 tweet. A few days earlier, the star tweeted “The seeds of dreams are often found in books, and the seeds you help plant in your community can grow across the world. I dream of writing my own novel one day.”
Parton, a 75-year-old Tennessee native, is a literacy advocate. In 1995, she launched the Imagination Library, which has provided children around the world with millions of books.
Although “Run, Rose, Run” is Parton’s first foray into novel writing, she has previously written multiple books, according to USA Today. Last year, she released a coffee table book with store behind 170 of her songs.
“I am delighted to team up with America’s most beloved superstar…to bring you Run, Rose, Run a new thriller about a young singer/songwriter on the rise and on the run...and determined to do whatever it takes to survive,” said a tweet from Patterson.
A bestselling author of well-known reads such as “Along Came a Spider”, Patterson has also donated many books. He has collaborated with others on novels before, including “The President is Missing” with former President Bill Clinton.
