(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — One person is dead, another seriously wounded after a shooting near Illinois State University in Normal Sunday morning.
The Normal Police Department and Illinois State University Police say officers were breaking up a large pop-up party of more than 1000 people just before 4 a.m. in the 300 block of North Main Street when they heard the gunshots.
Campus police say the unsanctioned party started at a park and moved to a gas station.
Upon arriving, officers found two people shot.
Police say one of the victims was pronounced dead at a local hospital while the other remains in critical condition.
The incident is under investigation by the Normal Police Department. No arrests have been made.
