CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Amtrak is accommodating a surge of travelers this day before Thanksgiving.
Amtrak spokesman Marc Magliari says Thanksgiving is their busiest travel period of the year.
“Our most busy day will be this Sunday, but, even today, more than 11,000 customers are going to pass through this station, so we’re ready, willing and able to help people get to where they want to go, over the river and through the woods to grandma’s house or somewhere else,” says Magliari.
What to bring with you?
“The good news on Amtrak is you can carry per person almost 125 pounds, two 50 pounders and a 25 pounder without any penalty,” Magliari adds.
He also offers a specific tip for train travelers.
“People should allow extra time, and, because these trains are very full, we might get delays down the line, with loading more people than [on] a normal day. So, always check,” Magliari says.
