A 13-year-old Texas boy has been convicted of murder in a fatal shooting at a Sonic Drive-In.
In May, the suspect fatally shot 32-year-old Matthew Davis, a Sonic employee, with an AR-style rifle as Davis fought the boy's uncle, Angel Gomez.
The shooting happened after Davis confronted Gomez about his "disorderly conduct" outside the fast-food restaurant in Keene, about 40 miles southwest of Dallas, the Associated Press reported. It's not exactly clear what Gomez was doing, but the confrontation turned into a physical altercation.
As the two men fought, the boy, then 12, allegedly grabbed the gun from his uncle's vehicle and shot Davis several times, according to the report.
Gomez and the boy reportedly fled the scene after the shooting but were both later arrested and charged.
Earlier this month, a jury found that the boy engaged in delinquent conduct, the juvenile equivalent of a guilty verdict, the AP reported. He faces a maximum sentence of 40 years in prison.
Gomez is awaiting trial.
