CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A new arrest this week has brought the total of Joliet West High School students arrested for fighting at school to 13 in less than a three-month period.
The student, a 15-year-old girl, was arrested Thursday in connection to an October fight at the school.
Joliet police said the student was transported to River Valley Juvenile Detention Center and charged with aggravated battery. She’s the thirteenth student arrested for fighting at the school since Oct. 1.
The Joliet Herald News reported that the arrest was connected to a fight that happened at the school Oct. 4 when, at the time, the student had been released to her parents with no charges filed.
It’s alleged that the girl had pushed past security guards at the school and then struck another 15-year-old student in the head. That student received minor injuries according to police.
