(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A shooting in the Greater Grand Crossing neighborhood has left two women dead and three children wounded.

Police say two cars pulled up outside a home on South Woodlawn Avenue near East 71st Street around 6:30 Thursday morning. Multiple people got out and opened fire.

A 42-year-old woman was pronounced dead at the scene and a 22-year-old woman was pronounced at the University of Chicago Hospital.

The three children – ages 5, 7 and 8 – are all in critical condition right now.

“My heart bleeds for the community, which is a relatively quiet community and isn't really used to this sort of violence. And I pray that this doesn't happen again,” 5th Ward Alderman Desmon Yancy said.

No one is in custody.
