CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago Fire officials were busy battling flames at two fatal fires early Wednesday morning.
A man, believed to be in his 30s, was found unresponsive in the fire at an apartment building on West Ainslie Street near North Wolcott Avenue in the Ravenswood neighborhood at around 4:30.
He was pronounced dead at the scene. Two additional people were transported to an area hospital with smoke inhalation. The fire is still under investigation.
Hours earlier, crews were sent to another fire in the Belmont Central neighborhood, at an apartment building on Meade near Belden.
“We had one individual that was transported for that fire, and that turned out to be a fatality as well. That fire, I believe, started on a rear porch. That’s still under investigation,” Chicago Fire Department spokesman Larry Langford told WBBM.
