CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two people were injured after steel pipes fell off a truck on the outbound Kennedy Expressway Tuesday night.
Illinois State Police (ISP) said the incident happened around 11 p.m. in the northbound lanes of I-90 near Lake Street.
A semi-truck carrying steel pipes hit the Lake Street bridge, causing some of the pipes to fall onto the expressway and hit two other cars.
Two people were injured and were transported to a hospital with non-life-threatening injuries, the ISP said.
Lanes were shut down for a brief period, before partially reopening at about 11:35 p.m.
It took Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) DOT crews until almost 7 a.m. to completely clear the scene.
