2 killed in single-car crash on Inbound I-57: Police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Two people have died following an overnight crash on Interstate-57.

Illinois State Police said the single car crash occurred around 2:30 a.m. on Inbound I-57 near 99th Street. According to the ISP, the vehicle spun out of control and hit a light pole.

The car contained three people at the time of the accident. One person died at the scene, while two other occupants were injured and sent to an area hospital. Police said however one of the victims succumbed to their injuries and was pronounced dead at the hospital.

ISP’s investigation and crash cleanup shut down a portion of inbound I-57 for over four hours, with all traffic diverted at 111th Street.

All lanes were reopened at around 7 a.m.
