2 teens murdered on West Side in separate incidents: Police

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The weekend deaths of two Chicago teenagers has triggered separate investigations.

The first incident occurred Saturday afternoon inside a West Side home on Washtenaw near Roosevelt. Chicago Police said officers found a 17-year-old girl unresponsive. She was sent to Mount Sinai Hospital but later died.

The Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office has identified the victim as Chiyenne Washington and has ruled her death to be a homicide. The cause of the death, according to the Medical Examiner, was asphyxia and assault.

Police have begun to conduct a homicide investigation.

Sunday evening, a second teen died. Police said officers were responding to a home on Jackson near Sacramento, in Garfield Park, and found a 15-year-old boy with a gunshot wound to the chest. He was transported to Stroger Hospital. He died a short time later.

Area Four Detectives are investigating the incident.

No arrests have been made in either case.
