2 women wounded in Near South Side shootout, police say

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago police are investigating a shootout on the Near South Side overnight that injured two people.

Police said two women are doing ok after they were shot near a Chicago Housing Authority development in Bronzeville, at 29th and Dearborn.

It happened around 12:30 a.m. Police said a 24-year-old and a 29-year-old woman were standing outside when two suspects exchanged gunfire.

The 24-year-old was shot in the back, and the 29-year-old woman was shot in the hand. Both were described to be in fair condition.

Police said the shooters ran away and are not in custody.
