CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - The James Beard Foundation has served up this year’s Restaurant and Chefs Awards nominees, and Chicago is well-represented.

Three local chefs and one restaurant have reached the nomination stage, with two up for national awards.

The first is Anna Posey, executive pastry chef at Elske,  a Michelin Star restaurant in the West Loop. She has been nominated for Outstanding Pastry Chef or Baker.

Lula Cafe is the other local establishment nominated for a national award. The Logan Square restaurant, opened in 1999 and a previous James Beard finalist,  has been chosen as a candidate for Outstanding Hospitality.

The two other Chicago restaurants represented have chefs nominated for Best Chef in the Great Lakes region. Chef Sujan Sarkar with Indienne, a fine dining Indian restaurant in River North, and Chef Jenner Tomaska of Lincoln Park’s fine dining Esmé are two of the five candidates for the region.

The winners will be announced at an awards ceremony held on Monday, June 10 at the Lyric Opera of Chicago. Tuesday, April 9, tickets will go on sale.
