3 critically hurt after CTA bus crashes in Bridgeport: CFD

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A Monday crash involving a CTA bus on the near southside sent multiple people to the hospital.

Police said it It happened around 10:40 a.m. near 35th and Halsted, in the city’s Bridgeport neighborhood.

The bus was headed north on Halsted when it lost control and hit a building. Police said the bus continued north and then slammed into a Cadillac and then rammed several other vehicles. In total, 11 cars were involved, police said.

Five people were taken to area hospitals, the CPD said. CFD spokesperson Larry Langford said at least three were said to be in critical condition.

Extensive cleanup meant streets around that area were closed, rerouting the #8 and 35 buses.

The cause of the crash remains investigation.
