3 teens, 2 others wounded in two separate shootings on Near West Side

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- There were two separate shooting incidents on Wednesday that left some teenagers wounded-both in the United Center neighborhood on the Near West Side.

A boy and a woman were wounded in a shooting Wednesday night.

They were standing in the courtyard of a residence in the 2300 block of West Van Buren Street when they were struck by gunfire about 7 p.m., according to Chicago police.

The boy, 13, suffered a graze wound to the back of the head, and the woman, 45, was struck in the thigh, police said.

They were both taken to Stroger Hospital in good condition, police said. No one was in custody.

In a separate incident, two teenage boys and a man were wounded in a shooting Wednesday afternoon also in the United Center neighborhood.

Shortly before 4 p.m., they were standing near a sidewalk in the 100 block of North Oakley when they were struck by gunfire, according to Chicago police.

The youngest teen, 16, was struck in the buttocks and chest. The older teen, 17, was struck in the thigh. The man, 52, was struck in the armpit area, police said.

All three were taken to Stroger Hospital, where they were listed on fair condition, police said. No one was in custody.
