CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Just 4 months old, and she's gone.

Paramedics were called Thursday afternoon to a residence in the 4700 block of North Lawndale Avenue in Albany Park, where they found Zury Cruz Samba unconscious and not breathing.

They were able to get her breathing again, and she was transported to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where the medical staff kept her alive for a little while.

Zury died Friday morning. An autopsy on Saturday determined her death was caused by multiple injuries from child abuse, the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office said.

Officials ruled Zury’s death a homicide.

A spokesman for the Department of Children and Family Services said the agency had prior contact with the family and is conducting an investigation.

Chicago police said Saturday that detectives had not yet been notified.

No arrests were reported.
