CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A carbon monoxide leak at a Southeast Side house sent nine people to the hospital.
According to the Chicago Fire Department, crews were sent to a two-and-a-half apartment building on 105th Street and Avenue L shortly before 8 a.m. after high carbon monoxide readings were detected.
Nine people were evaluated and then transported to area hospitals, ranging from fair to good condition. Six of the nine were children and sent to Comer Children’s Hospital, while three were adults, hospitalized at Advocate Trinity Hospital.
CBS-2 reported technicians from Peoples Gas were on the scene, but it’s still not known what caused the high carbon monoxide levels.
