CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago celebrated the holiday this morning with the annual Thanksgiving parade downtown.
Parade-goers bundled up in the cold for the 90th Chicago Thanksgiving Parade.
Shane and Brandy Carter drove eleven hours from Georgia to watch their daughter participate in the parade.
“My daughter’s marching in the parade with her high school from Cartersville, Georgia,” Shane said as the parade was stepping off.
“They're in their school uniform. They’re the last band to come on,” Brandy added.
The Chicago tradition featured marching bands, floats and live performances. Spectators crowded together in the Loop all in to celebrate the joy of the holiday.
Britton Bragen and his 8-year old son Briylon were dressed for the weather and came for the first time.
“It is my first time seeing the parade,” Briylon said before the parade. “I’ve seen some parades on TV at my house. It’s pretty cool seeing them, all the floats. I hope they have one of the big ones that are as tall as the skyscrapers.”
