GLENWOOD, Ill. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A 2-month-old boy who was abducted around 7 a.m. Sunday in McNabb, Illinois was found safe about 113 miles away in south suburban Chicago around 2 p.m.
Glenwood Police Sgt. Christopher Sanchez told WBBM that his department received the Amber Alert that Kevin DelHotal, 32, had taken 2-month old Noah DelHatal by force from McNabb, Illinois in Putnam County. DelHatal is Noah’s non-custodial father.
About 10 minutes after Glenwood police received the alert, a resident noticed a white 2001 Chevrolet Trailblazer matching the description of the one given in the alert and contacted authorities. Glenwood police went to a nearby gas station and saw DelHatal with the child in a car carrier.

Police explained to the DelHatal what was going on. Sanchez took the baby safely and DelHatal was taken into custody.
Glenwood police said the baby was doing well and watching TV at the police station while his mother was on her way to get him.

Sanchez also told WBBM that it was good to hold a baby in his arms again after not having done so since his 16-year-old son was an infant. Sanchez said all three of the responding officers have children, which made safely retrieving the baby especially gratifying.
Further details on what led to the abduction, possible charges or why DelHatal traveled with the infant to the Glenwood area are not yet available.
