(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- An historic vaudeville theater on the North Side has become the hot spot for magic in Chicago, and now an acclaimed magician is returning there to perform.

Joshua Jay is bringing his “Look Closer” showcase to The Rhapsody Theater, an old vaudeville spot, on Thursdays, Fridays and Saturdays through April 28. In addition to the stage shows, Jay will have “close-up” encounters with small groups of attendees in an upstairs room.

These magic performances of illusion and slight of hand encourage audience members to zero in on what Jay is doing.

“This show goes against everything magicians have touted for centuries,” Jay said in a news release. “Instead of misdirecting your attention, I encourage you to look closer.”

Jay premiered the show last year at The Rhapsody Theater. The new April run is billed as an update.
