(WBBM Newsradio) -- An astronomer at the Adler Planetarium who sued American Girl for its creation of a lookalike astronaut doll has reached a settlement with the company.

The lawsuit filed a year ago by Chicago-based astronomer Lucianne Walkowicz has been dismissed and “resolved pursuant to a mutual release in which no monetary payment has been exchanged,” according to the court documents.

Walkowicz sued American Girl and its parent company, Mattel, last year over their Luciana Vega astronaut doll.

Walkowicz claimed the doll copied her style of dress and mimicked her hairstyle, right down to the purple streak on the right side. She also said she often talked about the star Vega.

The astronomer argued American Girl representatives saw her speak and then created the Luciana Vega doll.

No details of the settlement were in the court filing that dismissed the lawsuit.
