(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Democratic candidate for Illinois Secretary of State insists he’s the only one in the race who doesn’t have to answer tough questions about ethics right now.
Ald. David Moore (17th) said he has a reputation of integrity as he points to City Clerk Anna Valencia. She’s been accused of mixing city business with her husband’s lobbying for government contracts.
Valencia has said she made honest mistakes about disclosing all her husband’s economic interests and corrected them.
“That becomes a character issue,” Moore counters.
Another candidate, Alexi Giannoulias, faces questions about his involvement in the collapse of his family’s Broadway Bank.
Moore said he has no such issues. He said Republicans will hammer away at ethics issues during the general election.
An ethics panel did question his use of an aldermanic Facebook page to post information about his bid for state office.
