Stolen ambulance recovered shortly after stolen from North Side hospital

(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A private ambulance that was stolen from a hospital on Chicago's North Side Wednesday was quickly recovered in Northbrook.

Chicago police say the ambulance, owned by Elite, was taken from Swedish Hospital at Foster and Washtenaw avenues.

Investigators say there were no patients in the ambulance when it was taken.

Police in Northbrook say they recovered the ambulance along Skokie Boulevard about a half hour after Chicago police say it was stolen. It was recovered 13 miles away from where it was taken.

Northbrook police say someone was taken into custody and the investigation continues.
