CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- A Chicago animal shelter is picking up the pieces after part of its roof collapsed.

One Tail at a Time closed its doors for more than a year during the coronavirus pandemic and recently reopened in April.

Three months later, part of the ceiling at its training center on North Elston Avenue collapsed.

“This morning we came into our training center and found that our ceiling had caved in. A large piece of concrete fell into one of our dog kennels,” according to its Facebook post Sunday morning. “Everyone is currently ok, but our space is not safe and we need to move everyone out ASAP.”

The shelter asked dog lovers to lend a paw, and by the end of the day every dog at the center had been moved into a temporary foster home.

Block Club Chicago reported the center will be “out of commission for a while,” meaning the shelter needs long-term foster homes for the dogs who would normally reside there.

Those interested in fostering can email Anna@onetail.org.

OTAAT is also accepting donations online at onetail.org.
