CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Chicago Police are looking for whoever is responsible for putting antisemitic flyers on cars in Lincoln Park.
About 50 handwritten notes with ugly and hateful comments about Jewish people were put on dozens of cars along a two-and-a-half block stretch of Magnolia Avenue near Webster.
Second Ward Ald. Brian Hopkins said several families of that faith live there.
“I thought it was an isolated incident. It turns out it is not. It was one of a series of incidents that have been occurring on the North Side of Chicago for a period of two weeks,” Hopkins told CBS-2.
The alderman believes the war in Gaza is fueling the incidents and is asking people in the neighborhood to check their security cameras to see if they can spot the people responsible.
“The fact that it’s being placed intentionally in residential neighborhoods where Jewish families live, it seems designed to sell fear and unrest in the hearts of our Jewish residents,” Hopkins said.
