
MICHIGAN CITY, Ind. (WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- Michigan City police arrested a 34-year-old man earlier this week after he allegedly broke into the apartment of his ex-girlfriend - the mother of his children - and allegedly tried to take at least one of them while in disguise.
Michael Redmond, 34 according to police, was wearing a wig and a mask when he entered the apartment and pointed a gun at the woman, demanding that she get one of the children and some belongings together.
Court documents show she recognized him by his voice. The police report said she pushed him and he pushed her back, The Times of Northwest Indiana reports.
The woman called 911. Redmond then grabbed the phone and smashed it.
However, police were there soon after and arrested Redmond after a brief foot pursuit. He had a warrant for his arrest. Police learned Redmond was wanted from an earlier case.
Felony charges include burglary, possession of a firearm by a serious violent felon, domestic battery with a deadly weapon, domestic battery with a deadly weapon in the presence of a minor and pointing a firearm.
