(WBBM NEWSRADIO) - Voters in multiple suburbs are casting ballots in primary elections today.

Aurora’s incumbent Mayor Richard Irvin is facing four challengers in Tuesday’s primary. Irvin is a Republican, but the election is non-partisan, so the top two candidates in the returns will face off in the April 1 general election.

Irvin has been keeping a high profile recently, including touting favorable crime statistics, but his opponents are not unknowns. John Laesch is an at-large alderman. Third Ward Alderman Ted  Mesiacos is also in the race, as is former Alderman Judd Lofchie. Lash and Lofchie faced Irvin in the last mayoral race.

Rounding out the field is Karina Garcia, president of the Aurora Regional Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.

Cicero’s longtime Mayor Larry Dominick is being challenged by Esteban Rodriguez, who has run a nonprofit organization in town.

In the south suburbs, embattled Dolton Mayor Tiffany Henyard faces Dolton Trustee Jason House.
