(WBBM NEWSRADIO) – A 59-year-old Aurora is accused of stealing more than $21,000 from a Boy Scout troop.
Naperville police said in a news release that John R. Miller was charged with one count of felony theft after they investigated a report that Boy Scout Troop 1776 was missing thousands of dollars in funds.
They allege Miller, who was the troop’s treasurer, funneled cash and unauthorized checks from the troop's bank account into his personal bank account between May 2021 and November 2022. The total amount stolen was $21,838, police said.
No additional information about the case was disclosed in the news release, issued Thursday.
