(WBBM NEWSRADIO) -- The Lincoln Park Zoo has a new baby zebra.
The yet-to-be-named Grévy's zebra – a female -- is the fifth for the mother, Adia.
The foal was 105 pounds a birth and will grow to weigh more than 800 pounds. In no time, it was up and running around after it was born early Monday. For the next seven months, she'll be dependent on her mother -- that's how long they nurse.
The newborn has reddish-brown stripes that will eventually turn black.

"It's amazing to see the population of these endangered zebras continue to grow," said Curator Dan Boehm. "Mom and foal are hitting all of their postpartum milestones and the newborn is quite spirited and very active."
The birth is particularly notable because Grévy's zebras are endangered, with fewer than 2,000 in the wild due to habitat loss and hunting.
