BBB says these are the top scams to be on the lookout for

The annual BBB Scam Tracker report reveals how the riskiest scams in the nation, like crypto-related scams, can drain your bank accounts if you fall victim to scammers.

The Better Business Bureau shared in its report that the biggest threat at the moment is cryptocurrency scams, which have quickly taken the top spot in the U.S. based on exposure, victim count, and financial losses.

Scammers lure people with fake promises of huge returns, showing phony statements and big gains, the BBB shared. To best protect yourself, the bureau says to never invest with people you don’t know.

Phony employment scams rank second on the top scams list and can be even more dangerous – the BBB shared that fraudsters use this scam to steal banking and Social Security info from unsuspecting victims who think they are starting a new job.

Third are romance and friendship scams, where fraudsters gain trust before asking for money. Never send money to anyone you haven’t met in person.
