(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — March is known for stormy weather, and it’s also high season for storm chaser scams.
It’s almost that time of the year when snow, rain, wind, lightning, and storms are all possible.
When storms roll out – storm chasers roll in. Substandard contractors and scammers target neighborhoods that experienced a lot of weather damage, offering fast, incredible deals to address urgent home repairs.
In some cases, they’ll do shoddy work, take your money, and run.
Other times, they’ll ask for a down payment to lock in a repair team that you’ll never see.
So, what can you do?
Always research contractors before hiring them, and never do business with someone who pressures you or shows up unannounced.
