Two ways pet scammers lure people in are with fake websites featuring adorable photos copied from other sources, and by offering phony pet insurance.
To avoid being scammed, always insist on meeting the pet and seller in person or via a live video chat. If they can’t do that, you might be dealing with a scammer.
Always check business ratings and reviews for anyone selling pets or pet insurance. And, of course, visit local shelters. There you’ll find wonderful dogs and cats in need of forever homes, and you won’t get scammed.
