(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A Beach Park man has been hit with gun charges after a weekend party in Antioch, which police said attracted over 300 partygoers and took more than four hours to fully disperse.

Antioch police officers responded to calls of noise complaints near Ida Avenue and Bishop Street Saturday night. There, they found a large crowd of people and began working to clear out the area.

During that time, 23-year-old Tabiest Hearton was arrested after police said officers found him in possession of an AR-15 with specialized bullets. Officials said the gun was located on the floorboard of his vehicle with the safety turned off.

Hearton, who’s a convicted felon and was on probation for a separate weapons charge, was given new charges of aggravated unlawful use of a weapon and unlawful possession of a weapon by a felon. Antioch police said Hearton could face 12 years in prison if he’s found guilty on all charges. Hearton was ordered held on Sunday.

Numerous citations were also issued to the homeowner and occupants of the house, officials said.

Antioch officials said more charges could be coming in relation to the party, which they added was thrown by a group responsible for similar parties across Lake County.
