CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) - A new era of Bears football began on the right albeit soggy foot Sunday, as the Bears emerged victorious 19-10 against the 49ers in a season opening rainstorm at Soldier Field.

Head Coach Matt Eberflus joined WBBM Newsradio’s Rick Gregg for an exclusive interview Monday morning to discuss the team’s week 1 win.
Eberflus praised the second year quarterback Justin Fields’ 2nd half playmaking, noting his 51 yard TD pass to receiver Dante Petis was an example how “special” he can be.

He also lauded the performance of the team’s rookie class, specifically the afternoon that fifth round defensive end Dominique Robinson had.

The rookie head coach briefly looked ahead to this Sunday’s upcoming clash with Aaron Rodgers and the archrival Packers. He believes the Bears should not concern themselves with the hype and hoopla that will for sure surround the game.

“It’s really going to be about the same message. It’s going to be about us and our execution and how we play. We’re going to focus on us and us getting better one week at a time,” Eberflus said.

Tune in to Monday night’s Bears Coaches Show where Matt Eberflus will join Jeff Joniak at 7 p.m.
