CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — Football fans returned to Soldier Field on Sunday for the Chicago Bears season-opener against the Green Bay Packers.

The game will be the first between the two teams since the Packers parted ways with longtime quarterback Aaron Rodgers, and supporters of both teams were eager to share their thoughts on the upcoming season.

Below are some of the best quotes from outside Soldier Field on Sunday. Enjoy.

Paul, from Lombard: “I think the Bears will pull it out. Last-second field goal. For the season, I’ll take 9-8. I just try not to get too excited. Every time I get excited I feel like they let me down, so I’d rather be pleasantly surprised than severely disappointed.”

As always, there were plenty of Packers fans, and one of them was apparently perfecting his stand-up routine during the offseason. Here’s Dontrielle Strong:

“I think this could be a historic year for the Bears. They’re looking really great. Honestly one of the better years I could imagine from them. I think even a whole four wins is possible.”

Bears fans were asked what they would rather see: A Bears Super Bowl victory or a winning lottery ticket.

Da’Rius Allen said he’d rather see the Bears win a Super Bowl than see himself win the lottery.

“Super Bowl … I’ll pick it over most things. Super Bowl.”

The decision was just as easy for another Bears fan who said they’d prefer the personal riches..

“I’d rather win the lottery. It’s a no-brainer. I can change allegiances if I need to. I can be bought.”

On his expectations for 2023 season, a Bears fan named Mike put it simply:

“I think this is our year.”
