(670 The Score) The Bears made a deal Friday to bolster their defensive front, as they agreed to a trade to acquire pass rusher Darrell Taylor from the Seahawks in exchange for a 2025 sixth-round pick, sources said. The deal is pending completion of a physical.
Taylor, 27, posted a combined 21.5 sacks across the past three seasons, including 5.5 in 2023. A second-round pick of the Seahawks in 2020, Taylor is set to become a free agent after this season.
Bears head coach Matt Eberflus confirmed the agreement Friday while appearing on the Bernstein & Holmes Show.
"It's exciting for us to get him," Eberflus said. "He's got sack production, a really good pass rusher. He fits our scheme in terms of his effort, his style, his disposition."
Taylor posted a career-best 9.5 sacks in 2022. He missed his entire rookie season in 2020 while recovering from a leg injury.
The Bears had been looking to upgrade their pass rush and find a complement for Pro Bowl defensive end Montez Sweat. Chicago was recently involved in trade conversations for star pass rusher Matthew Judon, who was instead traded from the Patriots to the Falcons in exchange for a third-round pick.
The Bears concluded their preseason slate with a 34-21 win against the Chiefs on Thursday in Kansas City. They return to practice Saturday at Halas Hall.
