(WBBM NEWSRADIO) — President Joe Biden has tested positive for COVID-19 again, White House officials announced Saturday.

In a press release, Dr. Kevin O'Connor,  Biden's physician, said the president had a so-called "rebound case" of COVID-19.

O'Connor wrote that Biden had experienced no reemergence of symptoms and continued to "feel quite well."

After his initial diagnosis, Biden was treated with Paxlovid. He had tested negative for COVID-19 Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday, and Friday, O'Connor wrote.

The White House physician said that rebound cases have been observed in a small number of patients treated with Paxlovid.

Given Biden's positive antigen test, O'Connor wrote that the president will "reinitiate strict isolation procedures."
