Boat crash in Chicago Playpen leaves two people hospitalized

CHICAGO (WBBM NEWSRADIO) — A boat crash in a busy area of Lake Michigan commonly known as the “Playpen” left two people hospitalized on Wednesday night, Chicago Fire Department (CFD) officials said. Two people were hurt in a boating accident on Lake Michigan last night.

It happened shortly after 9 p.m., when a boat crashed into one of the breakwater walls off of Ohio Street Beach.

CFD said paramedics rescued four people, two of whom were injured. One person was in critical condition, and the other person was in fair condition, officials said.

The other two people on board refused medical treatment.

Investigators are working to determine the cause of the crash.

No other information was available.
